Front-end Development

Front-End Developers develop and design modern, fast and user-friendly websites. They ensure that websites function on different devices, operating systems and browsers. Front-End Developers also, for example, take a website’s loading time and findability in search engines into account.

With a diploma in your pocket, you can work as a Junior Front-End Developer at IT consulting agencies, marketing agencies or at the IT departments of large and small companies.

Because of digitization, Front-End Developers are in high demand. The average salary of a Junior Front-End Developer in the Netherlands is therefore around 3,000 euros per month. But remember: the more experience and knowledge you build up, the more you can earn. An experienced Front-End Developer earns an average of 4000 euros per month in the Netherlands. Want to see how much you could earn in your country as a Front-End Developer? Here is one resource.

Back-end Development

As a Back-End Developer, you develop programs and apps and work on the back end of websites and web shops (the core functionality). You focus on the software, servers, databases, and operating systems that support websites and ensure that they function properly. For example, a Back-End Developer can focus on processes such as registering new users, implementing payment methods and reading news items from a database, but also the operation of a complete management system.

Once you have been trained as a Back-End Developer, you can start working for IT consultancy firms, IT product teams, or the IT departments of large and small companies.

Because there are not many Back-End Developers, they are in high demand. As a result, the average salary of a starting Back-End Developer is between 2400 and 3000 euros per month in the Netherlands. The average monthly salary of a more experienced Back-End Developer is easily between 3700 and 4200 euros. And a very experienced Back-End Developer earns very well, around 5000 to 6000 euros per month! Check out what you might earn in your country here.

Full-stack Development

As a Full-Stack Developer, you provide the complete package of web application development, from design to technology. You make sure everything looks good at the front of websites, web shops, programs or apps. But you also make sure everything works properly in the back end, too.

Just like Front-End Developers and Back-End Developers, you can work at IT consultancy agencies, marketing agencies or at the IT departments of large and small companies as a Full-Stack Developer.

Since Full-Stack Developers understand the complete package of development, they can be deployed very flexibly for various projects within these companies. This puts Full-Stack Developers in very high demand. The average salary of a Junior Full-Stack Developer in the Netherlands is between 2500 and 3600 euros per month. The average monthly salary of an experienced Full-Stack Developer is certainly not bad either, at between 3500 and 5000 euros per month. Find average salaries in your country here.
